Yesterday, I had the most fun time shooting in a long time

We've been in Indiana for two weeks already, and besides a couple of quick outings, I haven't been shooting much.

Sure, I try to shoot a ton of digital photos documenting what we do here. But I seem to need exclusive time to think and shoot.

Sure again, it's been cold (real cold). And the roads haven't been in the best conditions. But all these are just excuses.

Yesterday, I decided to stop being lazy about it and just get out. My destination: the Indiana Dunes, some one hour and a half away.

Turns out, I never made it to the dunes. I stopped by New Buffalo, Michigan, to take a couple quick shots of the beach and Lake Michigan, and never made it out in time to visit the dunes.

I had a blast! I hadn't had that much fun taking photos in a while. Actually, only a few places we visited during our road trip were as fun as yesterday!

It was all about the snow and ice, that gave the place that otherworldly look. Also, I was alone. I had space and time. I loved it!

I was so energized and inspired by that time in New Buffalo that I started taking secondary roads to go back home. The fog was so dense, and the wind was moving so much snow into the air that you could barely see more than 100 feet ahead - perfect conditions! I think I found a few shots on those roads, some of them with the potential of being really good shots.

I don't know if any of those images will turn out. I might mess it up while developing. I might have exposed them all wrong. I was using an orange filter, and that might have been too much.

But in all honestly, that'd be fine. The fun I had yesterday is yet another reminder of why I do this, how alive it makes me feel and why I'll keep chasing these special moments in the future.
