This wasn't an easy place to photograph. For whatever reason, I struggled during my time in Lake Tahoe. I had to push myself, but now that I look at those images, a year later, I'm so glad I did. These images have grown on me, and are some of my favorites from that road trip.
I don’t usually struggle with motivation when it comes to getting out and making images. I’m generally very excited to take my camera out there and start shooting.
My time in Nevada was different. I was still adjusting to being alone on the road, and with the contested elections all over the news, I got distracted and lost my momentum. I had to push myself, force myself to get out even if I didn’t feel like doing it.
And as you might have expected, it was totally worth it.
It's been a month since the latest episode of the American Road Trip! Way too long, so I decided to fix that today.
In the previous episode, we camped at Valley of Fire in Nevada. This time, we drive from there to Flagstaff, Arizona. On our way, we stop by the Hoover Dam. And the next day, also in this episode, I visit the ghost town of Two Guns, near Flagstaff.
You could say this episode is a filler. Necessary to tell the story of our road trip, but not the best video from a photography point of view. I hope you still enjoy it.
