I try some still life photography with the Bronica SQ-Ai and Ilford FP4.
I want to start adding some still life images and portraits into my projects. In this video, I make some images of tools and old objects to be included in a future project.
Finishing rolls of Ilford HP5 and FP4

After my trips to Portugal and Asturias, I had a couple of rolls to finish. I decided it was about time and went out to shoot the frames that were left. Then, I developed and scanned them.
I had a few rolls sitting around for a while, with a few shots left in them, so I decided to go out and finish them. This is what it came out of that morning out... and of those rolls.

This exposure is very similar to Tufas, Mono Lake previously posted here.
Also taken during sunrise, with that fog / mist present over some parts of the lake.
This one is a bit more minimalistic and focuses on just one tufa, further away and in the center of the frame. The mountains in the backgound are more visible, and darker.

This image is part of the first roll of FP4 I've ever shot. It was a bit of a gamble on my part to shoot a film stock I didn't know at a place I'd never been to before, and where I only had a few hours to spend. But it worked out just fine.
This was a long exposure of the tufas at Mono Lake, in California, just after sunrise.

There aren't many places to explore around here in Northern Indiana, so I'm trying to take full advantage of those few I've found so far. One of them is Bonneyville Mills.
I wasn't alone that day so I didn't have as much time as I would've loved but I still managed to take a few shots, some -like this one- will be part of #fp4party!

Walking around downtown Goshen, I stumbled upon this scene: a frozen newspaper in the snow.
I shot this image handheld and using a relatively slow ASA (FP4 box speed is 125), so I used a wide aperture. Focusing wasn't easy but I got the paper in focus - although it might not look like it on some parts because it was covered in ice.
I took a couple exposures because I really liked the scene, and it turned out as I was hoping.

"Cloud Hug" - Oregon Dunes, November 2017

While photographing the Oregon Dunes, I noticed this cloud that was forming a few miles away. It was just behind a hill and I couldn't tell if it was touching the ground or not but in any case, it was very low.
Everything happened really fast: I was taking shots of the ground behind a big dune, the shape of the cloud quickly changed to what you see here, almost like ready to hug or eat the grove of trees (I swear I can even see a face).
I took 2-3 shots of it trying to use the dune to my advantage, hiding the otherwise very busy foreground to keep the cloud as the main and only subject of the image.
I wanted more exposures without that dune though, but by the time I as able to go around it the cloud had already changed to something different and not as interesting.
Another lesson to be learned: when there's weather like this, windy and clouds forming and dissapearing so fast, keep an eye on them at all times and be ready!
